Safety Harbor Public Library Legacy Local History Collection

Safety Harbor Public Library’s digitized history collection contains images and texts related to the people, places, and artifacts unique to the history of the city of Safety Harbor and to Pinellas County. The library’s Local History Project began in the fall of 2004 as an Access database file with indexing to archival documents in a file cabinet in the Reference Department of the library. The library’s mission includes collecting, preserving, and providing access to the history of the city and its residents. Safety Harbor’s digitized Legacy collection contains historical documents owned by the library, donated to the library, or loaned to the library for digitalization. Documents include photographs, pamphlets, business flyers, city brochures, scrapbooks, oral history videos, and letters, as well as indexing to selected news clippings and reference books. We hope that the library’s participation in Legacy will make historical documents and memorabilia related to Safety Harbor, Florida more readily available to Safety Harbor residents and supporters from around the globe. If you have questions about this collection, please contact shplref@tblc.org.
